How Does IV Hydration Work?

We provide fluids and nutrients from a pharmacy that we administer through a catheter in your arm into your veins. IVs work by rapidly replenishing fluids, electrolytes and vitamins. An IV delivers 100% of the ingredients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gastrointestinal tract, which both slows absorption and diminishes the potency of the ingredients.

Are IVs Safe?

Yes! Our nurses and medics are the best at what they do, and our clinic provides a clean, sterile, comfortable and safe environment. We use the same fluids, medications and equipment that are used at the best hospitals.

How Long Does It Take?

In general, for most patients, IV therapy takes 30-45 minutes from start to finish.

What Are the Benefits?

It depends on the IV infusion you choose, but it will rehydrate you, energize you, eliminate cramping and soreness, increase mental clarity, stop nausea and vomiting, stop migraines, strengthen your immune system, and make you feel better overall. IV therapy can also improve the appearance of your hair, skin and nails; flush and detoxify your system; protect your kidneys; help with metabolism and maximizing bodily functions; increase circulatory volume; increase energy; and improve wellness and the feeling of well-being overall. The effects of an infusion last for about five days.

How Is It Better Than Water?

Water is free-fluid, meaning that it does not have electrolytes in it. Also, water has to be absorbed through your digestive tract, so it takes time for water to restore your fluid balance. IV fluids go directly into your bloodstream and contain necessary electrolytes to replace what you have lost.

Do You Take Insurance?

We do not accept private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. However, our treatments are generally far less expensive than most co-pays, especially if you have not yet met your deductible for the year. We do, however, accept FSA and HSA accounts. (Your HSA and FSA account may refuse to reimburse. Confirm with them first; we offer no refunds if they do not.)

Do I Need an Appointment?

Appointments are not necessary, but they are highly recommended, especially on weekends. One of our goals is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible, and by making an appointment, you ensure minimal to no waiting time. This gets you in and out as quickly as possible, so you can get on with your busy life.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Side effects are usually minor and short-lived. They include bruising, bleeding from the site and soreness. These are easily avoided by holding direct pressure after removal of the IV. Other far less common side effects include risk of infection and anaphylaxis, an extremely rare allergic reaction. Our highly trained medical professionals are well-versed in diagnosing and treating any and all possible side effects.

Does It Hurt To Get an IV?

Typically no. Depending on your preference, we can start the IV without any numbing medicine or with a numbing spray that completely numbs the area so you don’t feel a thing!

Can Pregnant Women Get an IV?

We will administer fluids to women in their 1st and 2nd trimester, with a note from their health care provider and approval from our medical director. We recommend that you seek treatment in your 3rd trimester with your OB/midwife for any hydration or medication needs.

Can Minors Get an IV?

We will administer to minors ages 14-17, with a prescription from their health care provider and approval from our medical director. Parent(s) must be present for infusion.
